Day 01 :

ARRIVE LEH | ACCLIMATIZATION & LOCAL SIGHTSEEING

Arrive at Leh Airport by morning flight and transfer to your hotel. After a welcome drink, the day is reserved for complete rest and acclimatization to the high altitude of Leh (3,500 meters).
In the late afternoon, proceed for a gentle city orientation walk through the local market, followed by visits to Shanti Stupa and Leh Palace.
Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel in Leh.
Shanti Stupa
Located on a hilltop in Chanspa, Shanti Stupa is a white-domed Buddhist monument built in 1991. It houses sacred relics of Lord Buddha and offers breathtaking panoramic views of Leh town and the surrounding mountains, making it one of the most popular Leh sightseeing points.
Leh Palace
Also known as Lhachen Palkhar, this 17th-century royal palace was built by King Sengge Namgyal. The nine-storey structure offers sweeping views of the Zanskar Range and is a must-visit heritage attraction in Leh.

Day 02 :

LEH – SHAM VALLEY EXCURSION (30 KMS / 2 HRS ONE WAY)

After breakfast, drive along the Indus River via the Leh–Kargil Highway for a scenic Sham Valley sightseeing tour. Visit the Hall of Fame Museum (closed on Mondays), followed by Gurudwara Pathar Sahib.
Continue to Magnetic Hill, known for its gravity-defying illusion, and then visit the famous confluence of the Indus and Zanskar Rivers near Nimmu village.
Return to Leh by evening. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 03 :

LEH TO NUBRA VALLEY VIA KHARDUNG LA (120 KMS / 4–5 HRS)

Post breakfast, proceed towards Nubra Valley via Khardung La Pass (18,390 ft), one of the highest motorable roads in the world. Enjoy stunning views of the Indus Valley, Zanskar Range, and Saser Massif en route.
Nubra Valley, also known as the Valley of Flowers, lies between the Karakoram and Ladakh ranges. On arrival, check in at your hotel/camp in Hunder.
Evening free to explore nearby villages. Overnight stay in Nubra Valley.

Day 04 :

NUBRA VALLEY – TURTUK EXCURSION (THANG VILLAGE & ZERO POINT)

After early breakfast, proceed for an excursion to Turtuk Village, one of the northernmost villages of India near the Indo-Pak border. Visit the 16th-century mosque, ancient ruins of the Dard civilization, and local monastery reflecting Turkish and Iranian cultural influences.
Weather permitting, enjoy distant views of the K2 Peak region. Return to Nubra Valley by evening.
Overnight stay at the hotel/camp.

Day 05 :

NUBRA VALLEY TO PANGONG LAKE (150 KMS / 5–6 HRS)

After breakfast, enjoy a Bactrian camel ride at the sand dunes of Hunder. Visit Diskit Village and local market before driving towards Pangong Lake via the scenic Agham–Shyok Valley route.
Though some stretches are rough, the journey offers breathtaking landscapes. Arrive at Pangong Tso (14,000 ft) by evening.
Dinner and overnight stay at camp/hotel near Pangong Lake.

Day 06 :

PANGONG LAKE TO LEH VIA CHANGLA PASS (140 KMS / 6 HRS)

After breakfast, spend time admiring the changing hues of Pangong Lake. Later, drive back to Leh via Changla Pass (5,486 m).
En route, visit Hemis Monastery, Thiksey Monastery, Shey Palace, and the famous 3 Idiots Rancho School.
Arrive in Leh by evening. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 07 :

DEPART LEH (FLY OUT)

After breakfast, transfer to Leh Domestic Airport for your onward journey.

Do I need acclimatization when visiting Leh–Ladakh?

Yes. Leh sits at 10,000+ ft, so you must spend the first 24–48 hours resting in Leh before traveling to Nubra Valley or Pangong Tso. This helps prevent Altitude Mountain Sickness (AMS).

Are permits required for Pangong Tso, Nubra Valley, and other regions?

Yes. Indian nationals need Inner Line Permits (ILP) for Pangong, Nubra, Khardung La, Turtuk, Tso Moriri, and other restricted zones. Carry a valid government ID for Army/ITBP checkpoints.

What should I pack for a Leh–Ladakh trip?

Pack thermal wear, warm jackets, windproof layers, sturdy boots, sunscreen, sunglasses, lip balm, gloves, and a basic health kit with AMS medicines. Weather changes are sudden, even in summer.

Does mobile network work in Ladakh? Do cards and ATMs work?

Only postpaid SIM cards work in Ladakh, mainly BSNL/MTNL.

Pangong has harsh weather and basic facilities. Expect limited electricity, minimal amenities, and only one bucket of hot water per person. Nights get extremely cold, so carry heavy woollens.
