For Phu Quoc, the ideal travel period is November to April, with sunny weather perfect for beaches and water sports. Avoid May to October, which is the rainy and stormy season.
Most travelers require an e-visa or visa on arrival to enter Vietnam. Passport validity should be at least 6 months with 2 blank pages.
Phu Quoc offers a 30-day visa-free entry if you arrive directly by air or sea without visiting mainland Vietnam. Mainland travel will require a separate e-visa.
Pack lightweight clothes, a raincoat for travel between May and November, comfortable walking shoes, sunscreen, hats, mosquito repellent, passport copies, and travel insurance. For Phu Quoc, carry beachwear, a waterproof bag, and flip-flops.
A tourist SIM (Mobifone or Viettel) is recommended for easy connectivity.
Do: Dress modestly at temples, bargain politely, use Grab taxis, stay alert in crowded tourist areas, and carry mosquito repellent.
Don’t: Drink tap water, leave belongings unattended, wear flashy jewelry, ride motorbikes without a license, or ignore safety and weather warnings.
