This itinerary offers an immersive journey through the stunning landscapes of Ladakh and Kashmir. Starting in Leh, you will acclimatize and explore the local sights, including Leh Palace, Shanti Stupa, and various monasteries. The adventure then takes you to Nubra Valley, passing through the highest motorable pass, Khardungla, before heading to the mesmerizing Pangong Lake. You'll also visit the historical Lamayuru and Alchi Monasteries, cross Fatu-la and Zojila Passes, and end the trip in Srinagar, soaking in the beauty of the region. This journey combines adventure, cultural exploration, and scenic wonders, making it a memorable experience.

Itinerary

Arrive at Leh airport (Kushok Bakula Rinpoche) by morning flight. This flight offers stunning views, with the peaks of K2, Nanga Parbat, and Gasherbrum visible in the distance on one side, and the Nun Kun massif close on the other. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel and have time to settle in and acclimatize, as the elevation is over 11,000 feet. In the afternoon, visit Leh Market, Leh Palace, and Shanti Stupa to familiarize yourself with this fascinating city. Stay overnight in Leh.

After breakfast, drive to Sindhu Darshan on the banks of the historic Indus River. Continue to Shey Palace, the ancient capital of Ladakh, and visit Thiksey Monastery, an excellent example of Ladakhi architecture. Explore Hemis Monastery, built in 1630, and famous for its wall paintings, thangkas, and historic artifacts. End the day with a visit to the 3 Idiot School. Return to Leh in the evening for an overnight stay.

After breakfast, begin the journey to Nubra Valley, located 125 km from Leh. On the way, pass through the highest motorable road in the world, Khardungla Pass (5,602 meters). Upon arrival in Nubra, visit the sand dunes at Hunder, where you can enjoy a camel ride, cultural dance show, and ATV ride (at your own cost). If time permits, visit Diskit Monastery. Check-in at your hotel or camps in Nubra Valley for a relaxed evening. Dinner and overnight stay at Nubra.

After breakfast, drive back towards Leh, reaching Khalsar, and take the left route to the villages of Shyok and Durbuk. The road is steep after Shyok. From Durbuk, take a left turn towards Tangtse and head towards Pangong Lake, famous as the 3 Idiot shooting point, located on the Indo-China border. The lake is known for its color-changing waters, from blue to green to red. Stay overnight at a campsite near Pangong Lake.

Enjoy breakfast near the beautiful Pangong Lake before heading back to Leh, passing through various villages like Durbuk and Tangtse. Take a short break at Changla Pass to enjoy a hot tea. Return to Leh for an overnight stay.

After breakfast, leave for Kargil, visiting Magnetic Hill, Hall of Fame, Gurudwara Pathar Sahib, and the Sangam of Zanskar and Indus Rivers on the way. Explore Alchi Gompa and Lamayuru Monastery, and then proceed to Kargil, crossing Fatu-la Pass (13,489 ft). Stop at Mulbek, a Buddhist village with a giant Buddha sculpture carved into the rock. Stay overnight in Kargil.

After breakfast, drive to Srinagar, visiting the War Memorial Hall and Museum. Enroute, stop for tea in Drass, the second coldest inhabited place in the world, and cross the Zojila Pass (3,527 meters). Pass through the panoramic village of Sonmarg before reaching Srinagar for an overnight stay.

After breakfast, depart for Leh airport to catch your flight back. End your trip with memories to cherish forever.
