Itinerary
Arrive at Leh airport (Kushok Bakula Rinpoche) on a morning flight, which is known for offering some of the most breathtaking views of the Himalayan range. On a clear day, you can see the peaks of K2, Nanga Parbat, Gasherbrum, and the Nun Kun massif. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel and take some time to acclimatize to the altitude of over 11,000 feet. In the afternoon, visit the Leh Market, Leh Palace, and Shanti Stupa to explore the fascinating city. Stay overnight in Leh.
After breakfast, head out to visit the Magnetic Hill, Hall of Fame, Gurudwara Pathar Sahib, and the confluence of the Zanskar and Indus Rivers. Return to Leh for an overnight stay.
After an early breakfast, drive towards Nubra Valley. On the way, pass through the highest motorable road in the world, the Khardungla Pass (5602 meters). Once in Nubra, visit the sand dunes at Hunder, where you can enjoy a camel ride, cultural dance show, and ATV ride (optional, at own cost). If time permits, visit the Diskit Monastery. After sightseeing, check in to your hotel or camp in Nubra Valley for a leisurely evening. Dinner and overnight stay at Nubra.
Start your day by driving back towards Leh, passing Khalsar. From the Agyam bridge, take a left turn towards the villages of Shyok and Durbuk, and follow the route to Pangong Lake, passing through picturesque landscapes. The lake, located at the Indo-China border, is famous for its stunning color-changing waters (blue, green, and red). It has also featured in movies like 3 Idiots and Jab Tak Hai Jaan. Spend the night at a campsite near Pangong Lake.
After breakfast, drive to Hanle, passing through TsakaLa Road. Visit the Umlingla Pass, one of the highest motorable roads in the world (5,882 meters). In the evening, visit the Indian Astronomical Observatory at Hanle, which houses the Himalayan Chandra Telescope and the Major Atmospheric Cerenkov Experiment Telescope (MACE). Special permission is required to visit this area due to its proximity to the Tibetan border. Overnight stay at Hanle.
Drive to Tso Moriri Lake via Karzok, reaching in the afternoon. Explore the beautiful Tso Moriri Lake and its surroundings. Overnight stay near Tso Moriri.
After breakfast, drive back towards Leh, passing through the Puga Valley and Tsokar Lake. Continue the drive to Taglang La Pass (17,585 ft), the second-highest motorable road in the world. Reach Leh in the evening for an overnight stay.
After breakfast, depart for Leh airport. End your trip with unforgettable memories.
