Itinerary
Step into Leh, where the Himalayan air whispers tales of ancient monasteries, vibrant markets, and the serene beauty of high-altitude landscapes. In this oasis of tranquility, prepare to embrace Ladakh's cultural richness and breathtaking vistas that welcome you to a truly unique and unforgettable experience. Arrive at Leh airport (Kushok Bakula Rinpoche) by morning flight. This flight is one of the most sensational flights in the world. On a clear day from one side of the aircraft can be seen in the distance the peaks of K2 (second-highest mountain on Earth), Nanga Parbat, Gasherbrum and on the other side of the aircraft, so close that you feel you could reach out and touch it, is the Nun Kun massif. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel. You would take a little time to settle in and acclimatize since you have gone from a relatively low elevation to over 11,000 feet! During the afternoon, visit Leh Market, Leh Palace and Shanti Stupa to allow you to get oriented to this fascinating city. Stay overnight in Leh. 1.The Leh Palace - 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM - 1-2hours: perched atop a hill in Leh, Ladakh, is a historic royal palace built in the 17th century. A marvel of medieval Tibetan architecture, it offers panoramic views of the Himalayan mountains and the Leh town. Abandoned in the mid-19th century, the palace is now a museum showcasing Ladakhi culture, art, and artifacts, providing a glimpse into the region's regal past. 2. Shanti Stupa: A Peace Pagoda in Leh - 5:00 AM to 9:00 PM - 1-2hours: Shanti Stupa is situated on a hilltop in Chanspa, Leh, Ladakh, offering panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and the Leh Valley.The stupa was built by a Japanese Buddhist organization, known as The Japanese for World Peace, as a symbol of peace and unity. It's a popular spot for both religious practices and photography. 3. Leh Market: The Leh Market is centrally located in the heart of Leh, the main town in Ladakh, surrounded by the stunning Himalayan landscape. Leh Market offers a diverse array of products, including traditional handicrafts, Pashmina shawls, Tibetan jewelry, prayer flags, rugs, and vibrant local attire.
After having a sumptuous breakfast, you will leave for sightseeing in the cab to Pathar Sahib Gurudwara, Magnetic Hill, and watch the beauty of the confluence of River Indus and Zanskar. The ride to these places will be through NH1 Leh Srinagar Highway surrounded by army checkpoints and camps.One would enjoy a smooth ride over the highway as one would on an airstrip with the added advantage of scenic views. Dinner and overnight stay at your stay in Leh itself.
Wake up to a refreshing morning and travel to Nubra Valley, a cold desert with vast landscapes and mountain ranges. Feel the thrill of crossing the World's Second-Highest Motorable Pass in the world, Khardung La, If you are lucky, you can encounter snow here. You can also visit the famous Diskit Monastery. Diskit Monastery, perched atop a hill in the Nubra Valley of Ladakh, is one of the region's oldest and largest Buddhist monasteries. It is renowned for its striking architecture, ancient murals, and a towering statue of Maitreya Buddha that overlooks the valley, drawing visitors seeking spiritual solace and cultural insights. Once you reach Nubra, enjoy a camel ride in the desert mountains of Hunder (additional cost). Breakfast, Dinner, and Overnight Stay in Nubra Valley.
We will start the day following the same route towards Leh till we reach Khalsar. From the Agyambridge, we will take the left route which leads us to the villages of Shyok and Durbuk. The road after Shyok is good but very steep. After Durbuk, take left towards Tangtse and follow the traditional route. drive to Pangong Lake(3 Idiot Shooting point)on the Indo-China border. Enjoy the scenic beauty of the Shyok river on one side and the Mountains on another side.The lake is a major attraction of the region and is amongst the highest altitude saline water lakes in the world and changes colors from shades of blue to green to red. Featured in movies like 3-idiots and Jab Tak Hai Jaan, it is said to be the most beautiful lake in India. Overnight stay at a campsite near Pangong lake.
Wake up to a refreshing morning and travel to visit Pangong Lake. After a brief photo op, proceed towards. On arrival, train your sights on the enchanting blue lake. Once you reach Pangong Tso, enjoy the picturesque lake and magnificent views surrounding you. Later Start your journey back to Leh via Changla Pass.
After breakfast, pick up your Transfer to Kargil, en-route visit On the way, you will visit the Dha-Hanu village, where the last race of Indo-Aryans resides. You will be amazed to see people adorned with jewellery and flowers. En route visit Lamayuru Monastery view point. The ride to these places will be through NH1 Leh Srinagar Highway surrounded by army checkpoints and camps.One would enjoy a smooth ride over the highway as one would on an airstrip with the added advantage of scenic views, later spend some quality time on the banks of River Suru. The Suru River is a tributary of the Indus River that flows largely through the Kargil district of Ladakh, India. The Suru Valley is coextensive with the Kargil tehsil, with the town of Kargil situated on its banks. Overnight Stay at Kargil.
After breakfast, proceed to Kargil war memorial, Dras. The Dras War Memorial in Kargil, also known as the Kargil War Memorial, honors the soldiers who fought in the 1999 Kargil War against Pakistan. Located in Drass, the memorial features inscriptions of the fallen soldiers' names and a museum showcasing the history and artifacts of the conflict. Later proceed towards Srinagar. En-route encounter thrilling Zojila pass drive. Take a break at Sonmarg. If time and mood permits, enjoy Pony rides and visit snow points in Sonmarg and head towards Srinagar for an overnight stay.
After breakfast, drop to airport to begin return journey with beautiful memories.
