Upon arrival at Phnom Penh International Airport, you will be greeted by our friendly English-speaking guide and transferred to your hotel. Begin your introduction to Cambodia with a visit to Wat Phnom, the city’s iconic hilltop temple and namesake, dating back to the 15th century. Continue to the Independence Monument, built in 1958 to commemorate Cambodia’s independence from French colonial rule, followed by the nearby Statue of King Norodom Sihanouk, honoring the country’s revered former monarch. As you drive through the city, you'll also pass the Statue of Samdech Choun Nath, a spiritual figure and scholar who authored Cambodia’s Khmer dictionary, and the Statue of Preah Phirum Master Ou, a renowned poet. After the city orientation, proceed for check-in at your hotel.
After breakfast, embark on a scenic 45-minute drive to Oudong Mountain, once the royal capital of Cambodia from 1618 to 1866. Though the original palace structures were damaged during the civil war, the site remains spiritually significant, with several ancient stupas, including the newer stupa built in 2002 to house sacred Buddha relics. At the base of the mountain, experience the vibrancy of local street food markets, where adventurous travelers can try specialties such as grilled frog, insects, and other exotic bites. On the return journey, make a stop at the Win-Win Memorial, a symbol of peace commemorating the official end of Cambodia’s decades-long civil conflict. In the afternoon, visit the SOSORO Monetary Museum, which traces over 2,000 years of Cambodia’s currency and economic history. As evening falls, enjoy browsing for souvenirs at the lively Phnom Penh Night Market.
Start the day with a visit to Cambodia’s most iconic landmarks – the Royal Palace and Silver Pagoda, still used for ceremonial functions and home to the King of Cambodia. Admire the grandeur of Khmer architecture and the shimmering silver tiles of the pagoda. Later, explore the bustling Central Market, a vast art-deco style market built in 1937, offering everything from souvenirs and fashion to local snacks. In the afternoon, visit the powerful Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum (S-21), a former high school turned prison during the Khmer Rouge regime. It’s a sobering yet essential stop to understand Cambodia’s recent history. End the day with leisure time at AEON Mall 1, followed by an atmospheric walk along Bassac Lane, a trendy enclave of cozy cafes, pubs, and restaurants perfect for dinner or drinks.
After breakfast, enjoy some free time at leisure. Depending on your flight schedule, you'll be transferred to Phnom Penh International Airport for your onward journey, carrying with you wonderful memories of Cambodia’s capital.
