After breakfast, visit the Tawang Monastery, a world-famous seventeenth-century site also known as Galden Namgyal Lhatse, which overlooks the expansive Tawang Valley from a height of 10,000 ft. This vast complex comprises 65 buildings housing lamas and features antique scriptures written in gold letters, ancient texts, and an impressive eight￾meter-high gilded Buddha statue. As the largest monastery in the Himalayan region and the second oldest in Asia, it is home to around 500 lamas.
