Visa Requirements for Azerbaijan

Required Documents

  • Visa Application Form (duly filled and signed)
  • Valid Passport (with minimum 6 months validity)
  • Recent Photographs (as per specifications)
  • Travel Itinerary (flight bookings, schedule, etc.)
  • Proof of Accommodation (hotel booking or invitation from host)
  • Travel Medical Insurance (valid for the duration of stay)
  • Contact Information (address, phone, email)
  • Cover Letter (explaining purpose of travel)
  • Invitation Letter (if applicable)
  • Proof of Employment (employment letter or company documents)
  • Proof of Sufficient Funds (bank statements, sponsorship, etc.)
  • Income Tax Returns (ITR)
  • Previous Passport (if any)
  • Additional Documents (if requested by the Embassy)

Important Notes

  • Visa Categories
    • Visa “C” – Valid for up to 90 days
    • Visa “D” – Valid between 91 and 180 days
    • ⚠️ Both visas cannot be extended or renewed in Austria.
    • For stays longer than 6 months, a Residence Permit (“Aufenthaltstitel”) must be applied for.
  • Application Submission
    • Applications cannot be submitted earlier than 6 months before departure.
    • Processing time is up to 15 working days from the date of submission.
    • Applicants are strongly advised to apply at least 1 month prior to travel.
    • In individual cases, processing may extend:
      • 30 calendar days – if additional scrutiny is required
      • 60 calendar days – if authorities of the Member State are consulted or more documents are needed
  • Embassy & VFS Guidelines
    • Applications submitted less than 15 working days before departure will be returned without processing.
    • All applications must be submitted via VFS Global Services Pvt. Ltd. at the Austrian Desk.
    • Any representative submitting documents must provide:
      • An original letter of authorization from the applicant
      • A copy of a valid photo ID
  • Responsibilities & Conditions
    • The applicant is responsible for the correctness and completeness of all submitted documents.
    • The Embassy reserves the right to request additional documents or call applicants for an interview (as per Article 21 (8) of Regulation (EC) No 810/2009).
    • Incomplete or faulty documentation may result in refusal of the visa application.
